Our Products
What type of edible paper do you stock?
The most popular types of edible paper we supply are Icing Sheets, Wafer Paper/Card and Chocolate/Meringue Transfer Sheets. Each of these types of edible paper have various different uses and applications, print quality and price points. All types of edible paper supplied by EPS are compatible with any CMYK Inkjet Edible Printers, including all Canon PIXMA Edible Printer models stocked by EPS.
What are Icing Sheets?
Icing Sheets are comprised of a thin layer of ‘paper like’ icing backed onto a plastic backing sheet which is easily peeled away once your image has been printed. They are the most popular type of edible paper and more commonly used by bakers and cake decorators for creating edible images for cakes, bakes and desserts. The print resolution and vibrancy of images achieved when printed with edible ink is close to that of regular paper, so the final edible printed images produced are the best quality compared to other types of edible paper.
EPS stock a variety of sizes across our Icing Sheet range, including A4, A5 (half-sheet) and A3 (double-sheet) standard icing sheets as well as a range of pre-cut shapes.
EPS and Sweet Artist Icing Sheets are industry-leading and used by many edible printing businesses and commercial bakeries worldwide. All our Icing Sheets have been specially formulated for the ideal consistency to be used with edible printers and to last on a range of edible cake surfaces, including buttercream. We have a range of formulas to suit the needs of your business, so whether you require a quick-drying icing sheet, or an ultra-smooth surface, we have the perfect Icing Sheet for you! All our Icing Sheets are stored in a resealable food-grade metallic bag to keep them fresh and long-lasting.
All of our Icing Sheets have a subtle sweet vanilla taste which will not affect the taste or overpower any flavours of your cakes and desserts. They can easily be cut to your desired shape and size using your choice of tools, including our range of EPS Cutting Tools.
What is Wafer Paper?
Wafer Paper is the most natural type of edible paper, comprised of only potato starch, vegetable oil and water. Despite its short list of ingredients, Wafer Paper is an extremely robust and versatile product primarily used for edible printing. Unlike Icing Sheets, Wafer Paper does not require a plastic backing sheet so can be fed directly into your edible printer, just like regular printing paper!
Wafer Paper has a range of uses in the food-industry with both sweet and savoury applications, from cake toppers to edible labels for breads and pies, as well as drink and cocktail toppers too! Even if you don’t own an edible printer, Wafer Paper is an excellent medium for creating edible decorations such as edible flowers, fans, and sails for cakes.
At EPS, we stock a range of thicknesses of Wafer Paper, which all have different qualities and uses:
• Wafer Paper Fine (0.27-0.3mm) – our finest type of Wafer paper, can be folded and manipulated to create intricate edible decorations and is the perfect choice for making Wafer Paper Flowers. While this type of edible paper can be printed with an edible paper, due to being so fine and more translucent, the print resolution is the lowest. Wafer Paper Fine has a rough/textured side and a smooth side.
• Wafer Paper (0.35-0.4mm) – our ‘standard’ Wafer Paper, an ideal middle ground. This thickness of wafer paper is a better choice for edible printing, as the print quality is significantly improved in comparison to the finer type, but it is still more flexible than card, so can still be used for folding and crafting into fans and sails for cake decorating. Wafer Paper has a rough/textured side and a smooth side, and we recommend printing on the smooth side for the best print-quality. Wafer paper can be used for creating printed edible toppers for cakes, bakes, desserts and foam-topped drinks and cocktails.
• Wafer Card (0.6mm) – our thicker ‘premium’ wafer card is comprised of two pieces of Wafer Paper laminated together, meaning Wafer Card is smooth on both sides and more opaque. This results in a much higher print resolution when printed with edible ink, so it is a great choice for more cost-effective edible toppers. Wafer Card can also be used to create drinks toppers as it will last longer in liquid.
The most popular Wafer Paper and Card is our unsweetened variety, as it is virtually tasteless so does not affect the taste of the food applied to. EPS also stock a sweetened version of our standard Wafer Paper and Wafer Card (not available in Fine) for those who prefer a subtle vanilla taste. Like our Icing Sheets, Wafer Paper is available in a range of sizes.
Wafer Paper can be cut with a range of EPS Cutting Tools but as it does not have a plastic-backing sheet, is not available pre-cut.
What are Chocolate Transfer Sheets?
Chocolate Transfer sheets can be used to create custom chocolates with printed messages, designs and even photos. Unlike other types of edible paper, your printed design is transferred onto the surface of the chocolate, so they should always be printed in mirror-image/reversed.
The sheets comprise of a thin cocoa-butter based layer laminated onto a plastic-backing sheet. They can be fed through an edible printer and printed in the same way as other types of edible paper. Once dried, tempered melted chocolate can be poured onto the printed side, left to set and when the plastic is removed, the image will be transferred onto the solid chocolate. We stock A4 size Chocolate Transfer Sheets as well as a dedicated sized sheet for use with our Sweet Artist Magnetic Chocolate Moulds.
Chocolate Transfer Sheets work best with white chocolate and chocolate must be tempered correctly and at the optimal temperature in order for them to work.
Sweet Artist Chocolate Transfer Sheets supplied by EPS are the best in the industry and used by chocolatiers, Michelin chefs and renowned hotel restaurants around the world. As our sheets are also more heat-resistant than most, they can also be used with isomalt to create printed sweets and lollipops too.
What are Meringue Transfer Sheets?
Meringue Transfer Sheets work in the exact same way as Chocolate Transfer Sheets by transferring your printed image or text onto meringue when cooked. The plastic sheet is placed with the printed layer facing upwards and meringue mixture can be piped directly onto the sheet. The sheet can then be baked with the meringue to transfer the image.
What is Edible Ink?
Edible Ink is ink made from food-grade ingredients and colourants. As all EPS Edible Printers are CMYK Inkjet printers, our Edible Ink closely matches the Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black coloured ink that would normally be used in these printer models for regular printing, except you can safely eat it when it’s used to print edible images!
EPS Edible Ink can be used with most Canon and Epson Edible Printer models and has been specially formulated to flow easily through inkjet print head nozzles. The ink is double-filtered prior to bottling to reduce build up on the print head, prolonging the life of your edible printer in comparison to cheaper alternative edible inks. The close colour-match and vibrancy of the ink colours result in excellent print-quality.
EPS Edible Ink is available either bottled for filling refillable edible ink cartridges yourself or in pre-filled edible ink cartridges which can be put straight into an edible printer.
EPS are also an official distributor of KOPYFORM Edible Ink and we stock a range of sizes of bottled KOPYFORM Edible Ink for use with Canon Edible Ink Cartridges and Ink Tanks.
Are your edible papers and edible inks suitable for vegans and vegetarians?
Yes. All our edible paper including Icing Sheets, Wafer Paper, Wafer Card and Transfer Sheets are suitable for vegans and vegetarians. EPS and KOPYFORM Edible Ink are both also suitable for vegans and vegetarians.
Do your edible papers and inks contain allergens?
No. All our edible paper including Icing Sheets, Wafer Paper, Wafer Card and Transfer Sheets and our Edible Inks are free from all known allergens and manufactured in allergen-free sites. This includes gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free and egg-free. We also carry out regular independent allergen testing.
What is an Edible Printer and How Does it Work?
Edible Printers are essentially regular office inkjet printers that have been converted for use with Edible Ink and papers. Edible Printers use food-safe Edible Ink Cartridges with Edible Ink in place of regular ink cartridges and Edible Papers can be fed through the feed to create 100% Edible Prints. Canon CMYK Edible Printers use 5 x edible ink cartridges (2 x black, 1 x cyan, 1 x magenta and 1 x yellow).
The range of Canon PIXMA Edible Printer Models stocked by EPS have been carefully sourced and selected specifically for Edible Printing due to a range of important features:
• Rear Feed – as Edible Papers are delicate, only printers with a rear-feed option should be used to avoid the papers being damaged or causing blockages when fed through the printer. The rear feed allows the paper to remain as flat as possible without needing to be folded back on itself, like cassette or bottom-feeds.
• Removeable Printhead – only printers with a removeable print head should be used for edible printing, this is because occasionally ink build up can cause blockages that can only be removed with thorough manual cleaning. It also means regular maintenance can be carried out to prolong the lifespan of the print head and ensure ink isn’t left sitting in the nozzles during storage.
• Compatible Edible Ink Cartridges – not all printer models have compatible cartridges for use with edible ink. All printer models carried by EPS have edible ink cartridges which are available to purchase pre-filled or as refillable empty cartridges.
• Never Used with Regular Ink – edible printers stocked by EPS are brand-new and assured to have never been used or tested with regular ink. YOU SHOULD NEVER USE A PRINTER FOR EDIBLE PRINTING FOR FOOD-USE THAT HAS EVER BEEN USED WITH REGULAR INK CARTRIDGES/INK AS REGULAR INK CONTAMINATION CAN BE HARMFUL FOR HEALTH.
Other features that make Canon Edible Printers stocked by EPS best for edible printing, is their compact size meaning they don’t take up much room on your counter-space in your work area/kitchen, the rollers which easily grip the plastic sheets of Chocolate Transfers and Icing Sheet and their simplicity to use, even for complete beginners to edible printing!
Which is the best Edible Printer Model?

How do I Maintain my Edible Printer?
Edible Printers do require regular cleaning and maintenance for the colours in your edible prints to remain vibrant, to avoid blockages causing missed areas of print and lines and to prolong the life of your edible printer and print head. It is also used for creating edible items, so like any other piece of equipment used in food-preparation, it needs cleaning!
The easiest way to carry out regular maintenance and keep your edible printer clean is with our dedicated Edible Printer Cleaning & Maintenance Kits which you can purchase for all Edible Printer Models sold by EPS. We also sell the Edible Printer Cleaning Solution in refill bottles too.
For a complete comprehensive guide to cleaning and maintaining your edible printer, see our blog post – here.
We also have a selection of videos over on our YouTube channel.
It’s important to familiarise yourself with the upkeep and maintenance required when purchasing an edible printer, as failure to keep it up from the beginning can cause issues with your print quality and longevity of your printer.
Which Edible Ink Cartridges do I need for my Edible Printer?
It is important to only use cartridges that are dedicated to edible printing to ensure they are food-safe and avoid contamination. EPS stock Edible Ink Cartridges for a range of Canon Edible Printers, including legacy models. It is important to select the correct compatible cartridges for your printer model as the chip is programmed for that particular printer. You cannot use any cartridges in your printer. The following Canon cartridge series are available at EPS:
• 580/581 Series Cartridges (PGI-580/CLI581) – compatible with the following Canon PIXMA Inkjet Printer Models: TS705 / TS705A / TS6350 / TS6350a / TS6351

• 450/451 Series Cartridges (PGI-450/CLI451) - compatible with the following Canon PIXMA Inkjet Printer Models: iX6840 / IP7240 (International Models)
You can choose between prefilled edible ink cartridges which already contain ink and are ready to put straight into your edible printer or refillable edible ink cartridges which need filling with edible ink before use but can be refilled once emptied. Prefilled edible ink cartridges are the quickest and easiest cartridges for use if time is off the essence, but refillable edible ink cartridges are the most cost-effective option. You will need to also purchase Edible Ink Refill bottles for refillable edible ink cartridge or one of the EPS Edible Ink Refill Kits.
Can all Edible Ink Cartridges be Refilled?
Only refillable edible ink cartridges can be refilled, if you’re not sure if the cartridges you have are refillable, you can check with your supplier. If you purchased your Edible Ink Cartridges or Edible Printer from us, EPS Refillable Edible Ink Cartridges can be easily recognised by the coloured plugs in the top of the cartridges which can be removed for refilling.
Pre-filled Edible Ink Cartridges cannot be refilled once emptied and should be disposed of and replaced, you can switch to the refillable option at any time though.
How do I Fill Refillable Edible Ink Cartridges?
EPS Refillable Edible Ink Cartridges may seem a little fiddly, but they are straightforward to use once you get the hang of it! There are 5 x cartridges to fill – 2 x black (PGBK & BK), 1 x Cyan (C), 1 x Magenta (M) and 1 x Yellow (Y) with 4 x colours of Edible Ink – Cyan, Magenta, Yellow and Black (you need to use the same black ink for both black cartridges!)
If you’re just getting started, everything you need to refill your cartridges is included in all of our Edible Printer Kits. If you are converting a brand-new Edible Printer purchased elsewhere, you will need an Edible Printer Refill Kit which contains Edible Ink Cartridges, Edible Ink and 4 x Food-Safe Filling Syringes. You can then reuse the syringes for refilling in future.
To fill your cartridges:
1. Ensure your surface is protected in case of spills and put on food-safe gloves – edible ink can stain!
2. Sterilise your needles and attach to the syringes.
3. First remove any yellow ‘pull’ tape on each of the cartridges but keep the cartridges inside the orange cradles in which they came.
4. Select your first colour of edible ink – ensure you choose the correct corresponding coloured cartridge.
5. Remove the coloured plug and keep to one side. Draw up the corresponding colour of edible ink into the filling syringe.
6. Carefully syringe the edible ink into the empty cavity of the cartridge and tip the cartridge toward the back/sponge side to ensure the ink flows through the absorbent sponge.
7. Hold the cartridge at an angle to ensure the sponge is fully saturated before drawing up a second lot of ink and repeating until both the sponge is saturated, and the empty cavity is at least 80% filled. There should only be a small (few mm) gap between the top of the ink and the top of the cartridge. Be careful not to allow ink to spill out of the airflow hole on top of the sponge side (you may need to tilt the cartridge back or fill the final but on a flat surface.)
8. Replace the coloured plug and repeat for each cartridge.
9. Your cartridges are now filled and ready to place into your edible printer! Only remove from orange cradles when you are ready to put them into their corresponding slots in the printer.
10. Store the orange cradles for when they need to be refilled and wash your syringes and needles.
Important Tips to Remember when using Refillable Edible Ink Cartridges:
1. ALWAYS check the chip on the bottom of the cartridge to ensure you have ordered the correct cartridge type for your printer model BEFORE OPENING. Once opened, edible ink cartridges cannot be returned if the incorrect type has been ordered. See ‘Which Edible Ink Cartridges do I need for my Edible Printer?’ above for help selecting the correct cartridges for your edible printer.
2. ALWAYS remove your edible ink cartridges before filling and place into the orange cradles. NEVER fill your edible ink cartridges inside the printer.
3. You MUST fill the edible ink cartridge with the CORRECT colour, as labelled on each cartridge. The cartridges cannot be swapped over in the printer as the chips correspond to the colour it is intended for so this will not work. If you fill your cartridges with the wrong colours, you will need to replace them.
4. Always make sure you keep your edible ink cartridges filled up. Allowing the cartridges to run dry can reduce their lifespan and cause issues with your edible printer. We do not recommend simply relying on the ink level display with edible ink – always check by eye before printing!
5. Keep your orange cradles! You will need these when refilling or for storing your edible ink cartridges in while cleaning or storing your edible printer.
6. Always keep a spare set of cartridges! At some point, even refillable edible ink cartridges will wear and need replacing – keeping a spare set will mean your edible printing is never interrupted waiting for supplies.
7. If the edible ink is not flowing through your cartridge properly, you may see white unsaturated patches on the sponge side. The sponge needs to be fully saturated for the cartridges to work properly. Ensure you are tilting the cartridge towards the sponge and gently tap on the surface to encourage the flow. If this still does not work, you can gently pierce the airflow hole on top of the sponge with a clean needle or pin to improve air flow. Do not attempt to print with cartridges if the sponge still has white patches and is not fully saturated with edible ink. Please contact support@edibleprintsupplies.co.uk for further advice.
